Progress has been extremely slow in getting any new Sandy cards, let alone one off the Top 10 most wanted list. Card was a little more than I wanted to pay for a Recollection auto but there are so few listed that I didn't want to lose out on another.
I'm still shaking my head at the November 2014 Alomar Recollection I needed that sold on eBay for under $15. That auction was listed and won while I was away for the week deer hunting here in Ontario.
You outbid me on this one. Congrats, it is a nice card. And I think the one you missed out on was the 1990 that I picked up. It was a steal for less than 15, particularly because it also featured the Rookie Cup Chrome Refractor /15.
ReplyDeleteYou might curse but my last second bid was $80.09...I figured you'd bid somewhere around $50 and change or $100+...so when it ended right away at basically my high bid, I was happily surprised and a little ticked it was right at my limit...whatever, made the seller happy!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was the 1990 recollection that you won with the chrome refractor #/15 that was a very nice steal.
Keep up the nice work with your blog...I check it a couple times a week to see what's new in your collection.
As much as I'd like to see Sandy as a manager sometime soon, I hope it's not Toronto until AA is gone as GM and Beeston is retired. Until they get the CEO/President settled, which would bring in a new GM and then manager, any manager position is temporary in Toronto. If Duquette came in next year and hired a new GM and then Sandy as manager, that would be great.
He's going to manage somewhere next year I believe. I think he could be the Braves manager since John Hart is the GM there, but the Marlins are another possibility. Jennings is not the long-term answer.
